Australian Master of the Amateurs
History of the Tournament
The Australian Master of the Amateurs is the highest-ranking amateur golf event in Australia and in the top handful of elite amateur golf events in the world. The tournament, which has been held since 1997, attracts the best male and female amateur golfers from around the world competing for the coveted “Green Jacket”. The event, which started in Queensland, moved to Melbourne in 2002 and has been held at some of the country’s finest golf courses including Yarra Yarra, Royal Melbourne and Victoria. Southern will host the event in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Some notable past players include Rickie Fowler, Cameron Smith, Jason Day, Will Zalatoris, Marc Leishman, Sahith Theegala, Bryson DeChambeau, Tommy Fleetwood and Jason Day. The 2022 winner, Harrison Crowe, went on to win the 2022 Asian Amateur Championship and received an invite to the 2023 Masters Tournament and the 2023 Open Championship.
2024 Australian Master of the Amateurs – Presented By Callaway
The 2024 Men’s & Women’s Australian Master of the Amateurs Championships are open to elite amateur golfers, through exemptions which are listed on this website and via an expressions of interest. The field for the 2024 Men’s Australian Master of the Amateurs Championship will be 108 male players and the 2024 Women’s Australian Master of the Amateurs Championship will be 48 female players. The field size has been capped at a total of 156 players. All players must have an R&A WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking). Male and female elite amateur golfers, shall compete in separate championships, under the title of the Men’s Australian Master of the Amateurs Championship and the Women’s Australian Master of the Amateurs Championship.
Players who do not meet the exemption criteria may email an expression of interest together with their golf resume to the Australian Master of the Amateurs International Selection Committee and it’s chairperson for consideration.
